04 / BUDGET & SCOPE

Why is the tent price different from the opening budget?

A low structure quote becomes a much larger project once freight and site work are added.

THE SHORT ANSWER

Compare itemised opening budgets using the same specification and delivery boundary.

Practical planning suggestions informed by the references below. Confirm requirements for the selected model and project location.

01

Build a scope sheet before comparing prices

Create lines for the structure, fit-out, bathroom, deck, packing, freight, import handling, unloading, local works and approvals. For each line record the supplier, inclusion status, currency and assumption. A blank line is an unresolved cost, not a free inclusion.

02

Keep opening and operating costs separate

business.gov.au distinguishes start-up costs from the ongoing costs of running a business. For your room proposal, add a separate operating sheet for housekeeping, utilities, fabric care, repairs and booking costs rather than hiding these in the purchase price.

03

Resolve uncertainties before a deposit

Mark estimates clearly. Ask what triggers a price change, which delivery terms apply, and whether taxes are included. Compare quotes only after aligning room configuration and responsibility for site work. Have project-specific tax and financial assumptions checked locally.

Manufacturer references illustrate questions to resolve; they are not performance or service claims for FIELDLODGE products. Regional approval examples do not determine requirements elsewhere.
